How to Ride the Subway

The seedy road subway system has 15 functioning lines.

From the system ENTRANCE linethere are two ways to transfer to other trains.

(1) Riders may transfer via the two-tiered Main Line Interchange:

(2) Alternatively, riders may transfer via an individual line entrance, for example:

Also from the ENTRANCE line, any station stop on any line may be reached. That is, the ENTRANCE line doubles as a system map.

All line entrances are connected to the Main Line Interchange, thus facilitating line transfers. Moreover, riders may return to the ENTRANCE line by swiping their metrocard.

Once on board, you may alight at any station along the line you're on, for example:

Stations with connecting (street-level) buses (pdf) are marked

Connecting ferry services (mp3), also, are marked

Connecting regional/intercity rail links (url) are marked as well

Finally, stations with connections to regional airports (avi) are marked

Connections to regional and inter-city rail lines may be found along the LINKS line only.

After alighting at a station, continuing your ride along that same line is easy; swipe your metrocard to re-board the train:

You may easily transfer to the EMAIL train with a SIGNATURE connection:
